Play Live Baccarat Online - The Casino Classic

Baccarat has a reputation for being the game of choice for high rollers and VIPs. But look past the velvet ropes and the cinematic reputation, and you'll find one of the most accessible, fast-paced, and fair games in the Live Casino.

Unlike Blackjack, where you need to memorise strategy charts to play perfectly, live baccarat requires no complex decision-making after you place your bet. It's a game of pure chance with a razor-thin house edge, making it perfect for players who want the atmosphere of a card game without the mental workout.

At Megaways Casino, we stream the action in HD from premium studios, bringing the 'Macau style' tradition of the squeeze and the speed of modern play directly to your device.

How Live Baccarat Works

The goal in online baccarat is simple: predict which hand - Player or Banker - will finish with a total closest to 9.

You aren't playing against the dealer (like in Blackjack) or other players (like in Poker). You're simply betting on the outcome of a coin flip, just played with cards.

  • Card Values - Aces are worth 1. Tens and Face Cards (Kings, Queens, Jacks) are worth 0. Number cards are worth their face value.

  • The Count - If a hand totals more than 9, the first digit is dropped. For example, a 7 and a 5 equals 12, which becomes a baccarat hand of 2.

The Third Card Rule

This is where new players often get confused, but don't worry - the dealer handles this automatically. If the Player or Banker has a total of 8 or 9 (a 'Natural'), the round ends. If the totals are lower, a third card may be drawn based on a strict set of pre-determined rules. You never have to decide whether to 'hit' or 'stand' - the game simply follows the maths automatically.

The Three Main Bets

There are only three primary decisions to make when you play live baccarat:

1. The Banker Bet

Statistically, this is the safest bet in the casino. The Banker hand has a slightly higher probability of winning (45.8% of the time compared to the Player's 44.6%). Because of this advantage, winning Banker bets are usually charged a 5% commission.

Tip: This bet has the lowest house edge.

2. The Player Bet

The Player bet pays 1:1 (evens). It wins slightly less often than the Banker, but you keep 100% of your winnings with no commission deducted.

3. The Tie Bet

If both hands finish with the same total, the Tie bet pays out significantly higher odds, usually 8:1. However, ties are rare, making this a high-risk, high-reward option.

Popular Live Baccarat Variants

We host a wide range of tables to suit every pace and playstyle, powered by industry leaders like Evolution and Playtech.

Lightning Baccarat

If the standard 1:1 payouts feel too slow, this is the 'Megaways' approach to baccarat. In every round, 1 to 5 'Lightning Cards' are generated with random multipliers (2x to 8x). If you win on a hand that contains one of these cards, your payout is multiplied.

Max Potential: A winning Tie bet with six matching Lightning cards can pay out up to 262,144x.

Baccarat Squeeze

For the purists, the 'Squeeze' is an essential part of the drama. In Live Baccarat Squeeze, the dealer slowly reveals the cards, building tension before the final count is shown. It doesn't change the odds, but it changes the experience.

Speed Baccarat

For players who want efficiency. Standard rounds take 48 seconds, but Speed Baccarat cuts this to 27 seconds. Cards are dealt face-up immediately, maximizing the number of hands you can play per hour.

Dragon Tiger

Often called 'Two-Card Baccarat'. There's no third card rule here. One card is dealt to the Dragon, one to the Tiger. Highest card wins. It's the simplest card game in the world.

Reading the Roadmaps (Baccarat Scorecards)

When you load a live baccarat online table, you'll see grids filled with red and blue circles at the bottom of the screen. These are called 'Roadmaps', and they track the history of the shoe.

  • The Bead Plate - Shows the exact winner of every past round (Red for Banker, Blue for Player).

  • The Big Road - Tracks 'streaks'. If the Banker wins three times in a row, you'll see a column of three red circles. When the Player wins, a new column starts.

While baccarat is a game of independent events (past results don't influence future ones), many players use these roads to spot 'patterns' and decide their next bet.
